Time Flies By! (Emailed 4/20/2015)

Hi everyone!!  Hope you're all doing well!

So this past week, I celebrated 16 months in the mission by going and eating some good sinaloanse dogos!  Then we went home and lost my mind when it hit me that I have more than 16 months in the mission, and I'm going home in 2 months....  Time just goes by too fast!!!

It's funny though, because every week I end up thinking, "wow!  These last few weeks have been some of the best weeks of my mission!"  Every week is just amazing in its own way and it just keeps getting better and better!  I don't want it to end!

Not too much is new this week.  We're working with some really amazing people here!  I'm so excited to keep helping them learn more and see this change in their lives and in themselves!  It's so amazing!

I feel like I haven't shared a funny story in a while, so I'll share this one really fast.  We finished teaching one of our lessons this week and my comp asked to use the bathroom.  They went to go check the bathroom and returned and told us that it was occupied and that the girl that what was using it always takes like an hour.  Then the brother that had gone to check told my companion that if she wanted to, she could go "here."  We were in the kitchen and we didn't understand that he was talking about the other bathroom that was around the corner.  I couldn't help the horrified look that I had on my face as I thought that he was telling my companion to go in the kitchen.  We all died of laughter when we realized that there had been a little misunderstanding.  Soooo funny!!

Anyways, I love you all tons!!!  Have a good week!!

Hi Everyone (Emailed 4/13/2015)

Hi everyone!

So, this will be a letter for the past 2 weeks.

First of all, don't you all just love general conference?  Was it not just the best?  I feel like I learn sooo much every time!  And more now as a missionary!  I wrote down a lot of the things that I learned, but I cant wait for the Liahona to get here!  So that I can re-read and study it all again!  I love conference!

It's been a good past few weeks ;)  We've worked hard and found a few new investigators with a lot of potential.  I am super excited to work with these new people that we've found!  We had the opportunity to find some amazing new people and I love becoming an instrument in God's hands.

I love studying the scriptures and learning so much!  Lets just say I have really learned a lot this past week!  Hope you're all reading your scriptures!  Love being a missionary!

Love you all!!

Pure Craziness! (Emailed 3/30/2015)

Hi everyone!!  How are you all doing?

So these past 2 weeks have been kind of crazy.

I'll just start out with, FABIOLA got BAPTIZED!!  She was baptized on March 21.  That was the most amazing and spiritual baptism I've ever seen.  She was so ready and prepared!  She's the first one in her family to be baptized.  She's in her 30´s and lives with her mom and younger sister.  Her younger sister has wanted to be baptized, but she's a minor, and her mom wouldn't let her get baptized for a few more years.  Anyways, Fabiola, Ana (the younger sis), Emma ( the mom), and Mariana (Fabiola's friend)  all went to the baptism.  Fabiola and Ana bore their testimonies, Emma and Mariana cried from the spirit, everyone cried and were super happy.  So amazing!

Then we were talking with Emma about the baptism a few days later, and she said that maybe she'll let Ana get baptized before my companion, Hna Treviño leaves.  We tried to explain to her that we didn't know when that would be for sure, but we were going to have transfers.  Didn't accept a date.  Then Mariana asked us to visit her, we went to her house, and she told us that she felt something soo amazing in the baptism and wanted that for herself.  We explained the Spirit to her, and she told us she would like to be baptized too.  In a few weeks, she'll be able to be baptized!!  She's so excited!

Then on Wednesday, we went to go visit Ana.  We asked her if she wanted to be baptized on Saturday, she said yes, then flat out told us that we needed to fast for her  and her mom, so that her mom's heart will be softened.  That's what she told us.  We told her we were already planning on it.  On Friday night we went to go visit them all.  We started talking about Ana and asking if she could be baptized on Saturday, Emma didn't know, we decided she would pray about it and we'd call her Saturday morning to see if we should start filling the font or not.  10 in the morning we call Emma, she tells us no...  Not until April.  5 minutes later Ana calls back, Emma says in the background that she wants us to go over to her house.  We go over at 12.  She still says no.  Then almost out of the blue, she calls to Ana and asks her if she wanted to get baptized that day.  Ana gets super excited, says yes, we call the elders to come over and give her an interview, through the baptism together, call and ivite all the members and the bishop.  ANA got BAPTIZED too!!!  She was thrilled!!!!!  It was so crazy!

And we did end up having transfers.  My old companion left, and now I am with Hermana Castro.   They also took out the 2 other elders in the ward and left me in the ward with 3 people that don't know the ward or area at all.  I only have half a transfer in this area and we'll be figuring it all out together!

Anyways, I am so excited for conference this weekend!!  I hope you all get to watch it all!  We get to hear from the leaders of the church!!!! Best thing ever!!

 Love you all tons!!!

Leugim (Emailed 3/16/2015)

Hi!  How is everyone doing?

I'm doing good.  It has been a pretty good week.  So last Sunday, my first Sunday in the ward, they changed the Bishop out.  So this week the ward was adjusting to a new bishopric and everything.  It was good though.  The ward is really great.  This is probably the strongest ward I've been in.  I also think it's one of the smallest.  We have about 60 people that go on Sundays.  Almost all of them are returned missionaries. It's pretty great!  They're willing to help us with anything!  The only hard part is finding people to teach :)

The good news is that we've been working with Faviola, and she's super excited to get baptized this Saturday!  This is a miracle.  This is the first baptism that this area has ever had.  It's been almost a year since the first sisters came to open a second area in this ward, and we have the opportunity to be the first sisters to baptize here!  Faviola is super excited and we are too!

This week, we also contacted someone really crazy in the street.  He told us that he learned to speak English in the street and that his name is Leugim (that would be miguel backwards).  His chihuahua is named Holly.  He told us that he just happens to be a Chinese god and he comes from Mercury.  He was wearing 2 different earrings and was really happy to talk to us in the street, twice.  We're excited to go teach him this week.  He would be such a great member!!

Anyways, I just want to finish talking about the Book of Mormón.  I hope you are all reading it!  Together as a family, and individually.  It is so powerful.  I think about how perfect it is and how perfect the Plan of God is to bring forth this light in the perfect time, and it's incredible.  It really brings us so much closer to God and Jesucristo.  We can learn so much from this book, and we keep learning more and more as we read it.  It is such a powerful testimony builder, and it protects us throughout the day when we read it.  The most important part though, is that we read it consistently.  When we do the things God commands us faithfully and consistently, our lives change and our families are strengthened continually.  I want to invite you all to read the Book of Mormón every day.  Try to finish it before I get home!!

Love you all!!!

Libertad :) (Emailed 3/9/2015)

How's everyone doing?

So this was my first week here in Libertad.  It was a good week.  The area is a lot different from my last  area.  In anahuac, we had too many people that would listen to us.  Here, we dont have anything.  It's been a great learning experience so far.  I've seen the need to be completely focused in my mission here in this area.  I dont have the option to let my mind wander to life at home, because it takes so much more effort to find work here, and we really need to be guided by the spirit with everything that we try to do.  I'm really enjoying this transfer!

Hope you're all doing well!!  Love you all!

Special Transfers (Emailed 3/2/2015)

Ok, well first of all, sorry that I couldn't write this last week!  I had to go to Guaymas again for my visa.  But that was my last time going to Guaymas in my mission!!  Crazy!!  So I got home late and didn't have time to write...

This week has been crazy!  Today, I have special transfers.  I don't know why, but a few of us here are being moved around.  We're all staying in the same zone, so I'll be in the same stake here in Mochis, but I'm going to the ward Libertad now.  It's a little sad, but its all good :)  Actually, yesterday we ate with some members that I have loved since I met them the first time I was here in the ward.  We were talking and eating and laughing and I was overcome with such love for these people and such happiness to be with them.  Then we were on our way to a lesson when the zone leaders called us and told us that I'm leaving the area again!

The good thing is that I know that a lot of these people that I have been teaching here are going to continue learning and progressing.  We have a lot of investigators that will be baptized this month and I'm happy that I had the opportunity to get to know them and help them.  I'm not here to do my will, I'm here to do the will of God.  That's what's important,  and the work here will keep on going the way that it's supposed to!

I have enjoyed my time here in Anahuac.  I have learned soo much here!  It's a little hard to leave this transfer because I feel like I have learned so much here with my companion.  It feels right though.  I learned what I needed to learn and helped those that needed my help in these moment, and now it's time to move on.  I think I understand now why I returned here, and I'm happy!

I just want to finish by telling you all how amazing missionary work is.  There is nothing better than doing the work of the Lord.  It can be hard, but it's beautiful.  This has been the best way to learn, the most satisfying to see others learn and feel this joy and happiness.  I am so happy to be able leave the world behind, to be focused on the spiritual things all day everyday.  To have my testimony strengthened through every experience, and to keep learning.  Sometimes it's hard to imagine how I can keep loving more and more people, but with every new person I meet, I find more love for them, and more happiness when they find happiness through the gospel.

(Wow...it's getting hard to write in English!  It's so weird!)

Love you all sooo much!!!!

Hi Everyone!!! (Emailed 2/9/2015)

Hi!  How is everyone?  So...  sorry again, this will just be a short little letter.  Today is our last p-day of the transfer so we ended up taking a bit more time doing some things together.  We don't know if we'll be staying together this next transfer or if we'll be leaving Mochis and if we'll come back again, so we did a lot of fun things today here in Mochis before we lose the opportunity.

Anyways, we had a good week!  We are preparing 2 more people to be baptized this week, so that's fun!  Tati(tatiana) and Chuma(Jesus Manuel).  They're really excited!  I also don't know if I told you all that Victor, Jared, and Alma and Maria were baptized in January!!

Well I love you all tons!!  Have a great week!!

Hola!

Hi everyone!!  Sorry that I didn't write last week!  I had to go to Guaymus again for my visa and we didn't get back to Los Mochis until almost 9 at night.
I also don't have much time to write today, so this is really just aa letter letting you all know that I'm ok ;)  And either this week or the following I might not write either.  Just a heads up.

I also cant send pictures this time either.  Really sad :)  I think I'm  just going to have to wait until I get home and show you all my pictures!  It's a lot easier to do that!

This week has been really unusual.  I was hardly in my area working.  I had to go to Guaymus and that took 2 days, I went on divisions and left the area, we had interviews and baptismal services so we really weren't in our area much.  I missed it!!  This week will also be a little weird for a few different reasons, but whatever ;)  We'll keep working hard!!

Love you all!!

A week back in Mochis (Emailed 1/12/2015)

Hi again!  How did everyone's week go?

So my first week back in los Mochis was pretty crazy.  It's been fun to go see some of my coverts and investigators and the members here.  They were all pretty surprised to see me here again!  That has made it pretty fun.  They all tell me that my Spanish is a lot better than it was then, so I guess I've improved!

It is so weird to me to be here though.  I am walking down the same streets that I was before.  We visit other people though.  I go home to the same house, sleep in the same bed, buy food from the same places and from the same people.  It's all the same, but it's all different.  I'm a lot different too though, and I think that's what makes it so weird.  I don't think in the same way that I did then.

This is still the prettiest area I have had.  I am on the outskirts of the town.  Lots of dirt roads, lots of open fields, lots of canals.  This is the epitome of middle of nowhere northwestern Mexico.  It is so much different here.  The way of life is just incredible sometimes.  there's somethings that I never would have seen anywhere else here.  I love it.

Really I'm just getting to know the people that we're teaching now.  I'm not new here, so I'm not lost and I know a lot of the people already.

Anyways, I'm excited to be working here!  Love you all lots!!!! Miss you guys!!!
(I just wish you could all hear the unbelievable amount of noise here right now.  We are talking battles of who can play their music the loudest...)

Love you!!!!

Hola! Como están? (Emailed 1/5/2015)

So, I wasn't able to write this last week.  On Christmas I told you all that my companion got chickenpox.  So we didn't end up leaving the house in almost 2 weeks.  I was a bit sad because it was the last 2 weeks of the transfer and I wanted to go visit everyone, but I actually ended up loving my time stuck in the house. My companion pretty much slept almost the whole time so she didn't scratch, and I read and read and read and studied and studied and studied.  By the time we were able to leave, I had been able to learn so much.  I was able to receive so much revelation from the spirit and just be edified so much more.  I guess when you're set apart from the world and put in a house with only the scriptures and church materials to study all day long that happens ;)

When we were finally able to leave the house and visit everyone, there were only 2 days left in the transfer.  We tried to visit as many people as possible, but sadly we weren't able to see everyone. Then on Sunday, we got transfers,  They made us wait until after 8 in the night to receive our transfers.  So stressful!  I am now in Los Mochis again.  It was sooo hard to leave las haciendas in Obregon.  I loved that area soo much and really was hoping for another transfer there.  Everyone figured I'd be going though.  I had a lot of time there already.  Everyone was pretty sad though.  They didnt want me to leave either.  Some tears were shed and lots of hugs and pictures.  I packed my bags quickly and left in the morning.

So now I'm here.  In Los Mochis Sinaloa. In the same ward where I was before, in the exact same area as before, and I'm even sleeping in the exact same bed that I slept in before.  It's funny, because when I left mochis, I was sad, just like always.  Everyone here told me that they wanted me to come back and visit them, and I thought before that I wanted to come back to this area and finish my mission here.  Then in this last transfer I thought how glad I was that we didn't return to our old areas.  Funny how Heavenly Father does things sometimes ;)  I figure I left something here undone and have to find someone else.  Or who knows!  It will be so exciting to find out why I'm here again though!!!

I'm disappointed though because I had a great idea in how to figure out to send pictures again, but I cant get this computer to work!!  So maybe the next week!!  And if not, the next or the next, or maybe in 5 months when I get home ;)

Well I love you all tons!!!  Miss you!!!

¡¡¡¡¡FELIZ NAVIDAD!!!!! (Emailed 12/24/2014)

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!  How are you all doing??

I still cant get it into my mind that it really is Christmas tomorrow.  It's so weird to not have a normal concept of time ;)  The mission throws me off.

I am so excited though!  What are your plans for Christmas?   I cant wait to skype!!!! :D

Also, can you all believe that I have been gone for more than a year now?  This is so weird.  It really doesn't feel like I have been away for a year.  I really do miss you guys!  I am having such a great time though!  I have learned soo much!  I have loved being able to look back and see how much I really have learned and changed.  how I have progressed and the way that I think now.  I love my mission!  It really is the best experience! ;)

So I was going to send you some more pictures.  I had some really great ones, but I cant get it to work!  I'll write you all a bit more next week too ;)

I'll see if I can get the part 2 email to send or not.  We'll see.  You wont be receiving all of the pictures I wanted to send, but that's ok.  I love you all tons!!  Miss you!

Espero que disfruten su navidad!  Feliz navidad a todos!  Les amo mucho!!!!

Foto Tour de Mexico :) (Emailed 12/8/2014)

Well hi!  How's everyone doing?

So I'm sorry I didnt write last week...  Ran out of time...hahaha ;)  So I figured I'd make up for it this week with 2!  Well, actually because I wanted to send pictures of all my crazy adventures!  We just cant send too many pictures at once, so this will come in 2 different parts.

Meet some of the elders I'm serving with here.  And yes, that would be my arm.  I locked the elders in the church, we took a quick picture, and then we ran off ;)   Dont worry though, they had keys too....

So my companion and I have had some great adventures on the buses.  This is a picture of us when we accidentally took the bus that went the wrong way to the end of the line.  I figured it would just go in a circle until we got to where we wanted, but no.  It stopped.  We had the great opportunity to get to know the bus driver and the other people on the bus though!  I found it hilarious!  My poor companion was just clueless though ;)  We also have had many more awesome bus stories.  We even sat in the front part of a SUPER packed bus.  ]We're talking where the dashboard is.  So cool!

This is a durado de carne asado.  It's when they take corn tortillas and put them on the grill until they get hard and crispy, pile on the grilled meat, salsa, guacamole, and all sorts of goodie!  Soooo delicious!

Welcome to the streets of Mexico.  This is where I work everyday.  It's about 6:00 in this picture.  Bright colorful houses, dirt, and the moon!  It's pretty cool ;)
